February 15, 2010 - Mike Smith named to board of directors of Alzheimer’s Association

The East Central Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association recently elected Mike Smith to join its board of directors.

An affiliate of the Alzheimer’s Association, the East Central Iowa Chapter, located in Cedar Rapids, was founded in 1986 by a group of area caregivers. Today, it serves 19 counties in Eastern Iowa, serving the estimated 16,000 individuals who are affected by the disease.

The association provides support and education services, including support groups, professional training and a 24-hour help line. The group also organizes community Memory Walks.

Smith will serve a 2 year term on the board of directors.
