Media Planner
The Media Planner position is responsible for supporting account executives in the research, planning, placement and metrics analysis of all traditional and digital media. The Media Planner assists with strategic counsel and budget recommendations for clients and establishes good working relationships with media reps and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Makes recommendations and prepares media plans based on briefings from account executives and account supervisors.
- Prepares media schedules and keeps schedules up to date.
- Books media space and issues insertion orders, insertion cancellations and media change requests.
- Works with the creative and account service teams to ensure use of the most effective media placements for each client/project. This includes establishing and communicating deadlines.
- Coordinates with production manager to ensure publication material deadlines are met and delivers artwork to vendors.
- Works with account executives to assure proper Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analysis is conducted to demonstrate results.
- Maintains all digital and hard copy resource and media files, backing up and updating regularly.
- Makes timely placement of all media according to project schedules.
- Maintains agency media schedules and issues all media reports.
- Promptly approves all media invoices and forwards invoices to accounting for payment.
- Meets and corresponds with media reps on a regular basis, maintaining good relationships.
- Conducts media billing reconciliation for each client/project.
- Knowledge of, or willing to learn, Search Engine marketing (SEM) implementation and analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Advertising, Marketing or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5 or more years of prior work experience, preferably in an agency environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including frequent use of the phone.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Comfortable managing budgets during planning, execution, and reconciliation of all projects.
- Comfortable with all types of media.
- Must be able to drive and have reliable transportation.
