MindFire Light the Spark Scholarships Eligibility and Details

All high school seniors who meet the criteria below are eligible to apply.

NOTE: MindFire employees, spouses or domestic partners of employees, and dependent children of employees are not eligible to apply.

Applicants must:

  • Reside in Rock Island or Scott County.
  • Show proof of being a high school senior or in a GED program or alternative high school situation.
  • Plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college or university within the United States during the 2021-2022 academic year.
  • Intend to enter the creative field with a career in graphic design, copywriting, public relations, marketing and/or brand development.

Selection Process

Eligible students must apply online. Should the applicant be selected, the recipient will receive a one-time scholarship gift of $2,000.02.

The selection will be based on the student’s passion and talent as demonstrated in their portfolio and application. The MindFire scholarship selection committee will base their selection on the student’s submitted work, which must include the following:

  • A digital portfolio/PDF of creative work including but not limited to:
    • Photography or video
    • Illustration
    • 3D Modeling
    • Animation
    • Graphic design work
    • Writing samples including essays, articles or creative writing

*Examples can include coursework, work used in extracurricular activities, work created in internships or work created on one’s own motivation.

*All work must be original work created by the applicant. Plagiarism will result in the automatic disqualification of the applicant.
